Many pregnancies occur among women who use, or recently stopped using, oral contraceptives (OCs). This had led to the investigation of a novel strategy: adding folic acid to OCs. In this supplement 4 experts discuss neural tube defects (NTDs), supplementation with folic acid early in pregnancy, and strategies to ensure all reproductive-age women receive adequate folic acid.
