Manage the Challenges of Diagnosis and Treatment in the Female Patient

Patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) often have high rates of psychosocial distress and psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety and depression, which pose challenges in diagnosing and treatment. This lecture will provide information on how to better recognize symptoms of the disease, and implement effective treatment.

It will also educate on the importance of the Rome III guidelines for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders and the important role healthcare providers can play in educating patients about IBS and its diagnosis.
