Only slightly more than half (51%) of all pregnancies in the United States each year can be considered "intended". Clinicians need to help individuals choose a reliable birth control method that focuses on the individuals' reproductive plans, lifestyle, religious contraindications, and medical issues in order to find a method that the patient will use continuously and effectively.
