While most surgeons use the tools and techniques they learned as residents, three gynecologic surgeons have begun using a new technique. They discuss their experience with new surgical technologies, specifically, a recently introduced device, the HARMONIC WAVE™ Coagulating Shears for abdominal hysterectomy. The use of ultrasonic energy devices to coagulate and cut tissue rather to use the traditional clamp, cut, and tie approach is changing gynecologic surgery.
